The Tioga County Open Door Mission and The Red Door Thrift Store are "all fired up" about opening a new food pantry and offering outreach services to seniors in Waverly and we need your help to raise funds!
COME WATCH AS CONTESTANTS TAKE ON THE HEAT!
WHEN: Saturday May 30th 3:00pm WHERE: The Railhouse Taproom and Restaurant 366 Broad Street Waverly, NY 14892 WHY: The money raised from this event will go to the Tioga County Open Door Mission to support food for a senior food pantry and outreach services for Waverly seniors. PRIZES: $200, T-shirt, recovery basket, and your name on a trophy and your photo on display at the Railhouse, for the winner of the Pizza contest The contestant that raises the most money will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Railhouse. Each contestant will receive a ghost pepper pizza T-shirt for participating! |

Darin Welch
Darin is a proud father of three with a great sense of humor! He is no coward when it comes to spicy food, he won the Barely Corn Ghost Pepper Pizza Challenge. Darin is dedicated to the Outreach Department and food pantries of the Tioga County Open Door Mission. Darin’s hobbies include camping, fishing and cooking, in fact he is often found cooking lunch for the Mission staff and homeless residents. Darin also loves the Buffalo Bills and is often getting grief because of it.

What is the Challenge?
Rules for Ghost Pepper Pizza Challenge
$100 Entry Fee (Sponsorship is encouraged)
To win: Be the first to finish a 9” inch, eight-slice ghost pepper pie in under 30 minutes. Sit for ten minutes to endure the after-burn. Unlimited water available. One glass of whole milk will be provided after ten minutes. Each contestant will be provided with a small bucket for spitting and a small white flag in case you choose to surrender to the challenge. Vomiting will disqualify you. The winner will be the first to completely finish the entire pizza (including swallowing it.) If no contestants finish an entire pizza, the winner will be the one who has eaten the most within 30 minutes.

What are Ghost Peppers?
The Ghost pepper also known as a bhut jolokia and naga jokia, is one of the hottest peppers in the world. The Ghost pepper is believed to have originated in Assam, India. According to the scoville scale, which is used to measure pepper heat, the Ghost pepper is 900.5 time hotter than Tabasco hot sauce.
